Guidelines to give supervision feedback
Sandra Cruz, Margarida Reis-Santos & Madalena Cunha, 2017
Feedback is an interactive process with the objective of promoting the supervisor’s awareness of his or her performance. | Strongly disagree1 | Disagree2 | Don’t agree/ Neither disagree3 | Agree4 | Stongly agree5 |
1. Clarify the points of view and name, clearly, the subject so that the supervised could know which subject is to be treated and how it is going to be done.
2. Be issued with respect. If there are different points view – to give the opportunity to explore the differences.
3. Being balanced – includes both positive and negative aspects – the way to the supervised becomes aware of what is doing well and correct what needs to be improved.
4. Recognize concerns and invite the supervised to reflect / self-evaluate the subject
5. Be specific – It is related to the specific objective or specific learning to achieve
6. Give time and space for further reflection and follow-up.
7. Use measure instruments.
8. Be given in a mutually beneficial way.
